Background
The Pasir coal mine is an opencast mine that is owned and operated by Kideco Jaya Agung, a subsidiary of Indika Energy, in Paser Regency, East Kalimantan, Indonesia.[9] It is the third largest coal mine in Indonesia.[10]
According to a profile published by the government of Muser village, one of the communities near the mine, Kideco states that it aims to support net-zero emissions by 2050 and reported receiving ten Platinum-level awards at the 2023 Indonesia CSR Awards (ICA), which it attributes to practices in CSR governance, environmental management, labor, operational practices, and community involvement and development.[11]
The coal is exported through Tanah Merah Coal terminal. Kideco Jaya agung operates the Pasir mine.
