Paul M. Barbas

Paul M. Barbas is president and chief executive officer of DPL and its principal subsidiary, The Dayton Power and Light Company (DP&L).[1]

Before Barbas joined DPL as president and CEO in October 2006, he was executive vice president and chief operating officer of Chesapeake Utilities Corporation. From 1999 to 2003, he held leadership positions at Allegheny Energy. He began his career in 1981 at General Electric, where he held various positions in operations and finance until 1998.[1]

Barbars received a Bachelor of Arts in economics from the College of the Holy Cross and an MBA from the University of Massachusetts.[1]

Power portfolio

Out of its total 5,469 MW of electric generating capacity in 2005 (0.51% of the U.S. total), DPL produces 64.4% from coal, 33.8% from natural gas, and 1.9% from oil. 95.7% of DPL's generating capacity comes from power plants in Ohio, and 4.3% comes from Indiana.[2]

Existing coal-fired power plants

DPL had 11 coal-fired generating stations in 2005, with 3,521 MW of capacity. Here is a list of DPL's coal power plants:[2][3][4]
