Background

The project was initially registered in 2012.[5]

$740 million in financing was agreed upon for EVM II in October 2018.[6] The project is "part of a broader energy modernization and expansion program being undertaken by Mexico’s state utility, CFE."[7] It is the located near EVM Energia's first project, EVM I power plant.[8]

EVM II began operating in January 2021.[9]
