Riva Hennigsdorfer Electric Steel Works (Hennigsdorfer Elektrostahlwerke), also known as HES, Stahl- und Walzwerk Hennigsdorf, is a steel plant in Hennigsdorf, Brandenburg, Germany that operates electric arc furnace (EAF) technology.
Location
The map below shows the exact location of the plant in Hennigsdorf, Brandenburg, Germany:
- Location: Hennigsdorfer Elektrostahlwerke GmbH, Wolfgang-Küntscher-Str. 18, 16761 Hennigsdorf, Germany
- Coordinates (WGS 84): 52.650903, 13.212683 (exact)
Background
As of April, 2025, the Henningdorf plant has been operating on a limit basis, and will continue to do so for an indefinite period of time. Steel production is suspended and about 680 employees are in short-term employment, which constitutes almost all of the workforce. Initially, the limited operation was scheduled for three months from January 1, 2025. This is due to difficult economic conditions, specifically high energy costs.[1]
