Rungta Mines Chaliyama steel plant is a steel plant in Chaliyama, Saraikela – Kharsawan, Jharkhand, India that operates blast furnace (BF), steelmaking, direct reduced iron (DRI), and induction furnace (IF) technology.

Background

Rungta Mines Chaliyama steel plant has direct reduced iron units and induction furnaces.[1] In 2021, the company received environmental clearance for expansion of the plant to an annual operating capacity of 7 mtpa.[2] Many facilities at the plant are under construction. After expansion the Chaliyama steel plant will be able to produce hot rolled coil, cold rolled coil, annealed & pickled products, sheet, galvanised coil, colour coated sheets, pipes, tubes, wires and others.[2]

In January 2025, the company announced its plans to foray into Ductile iron pipes at the Chaliyama plant.[3]

As of October 2025, there has been no update on the expansion project.
