Rungta Mines Karakhendra steel plant, also known as Karakhendra Steel Plant, is a steel plant in Karakhendra, Barbil, Keonjhar, Odisha, India that operates blast furnace (BF), direct reduced iron (DRI), electric arc furnace (EAF), and induction furnace (IF) technology.

Background
Rungta Mines Limited is setting up a steel plant at Karakhendra village. The proposal received environment clearance in August 2019. The company also announced to further expanding the capacity from 126 ttpa to 681 ttpa.[1] The project is estimated to be completed in 45 months.[2] The plant is expected to be built on a combination of forest and non-forest land.[3] The expansion is expected to be completed by 2025.[4]
As of October 2025, there has been no update on the expansion project.
