Background
On its website Facor Power states that it is "developing a 600MW supercritical coal based thermal IPP in the state of Chhattisgarh. The Project is developed by the SPV BEC Power Pvt. Ltd. BEC is a wholly owned subsidiary of the FACOR Group and holds a portion of the land and certain approvals and applications required for the development of the Chhattisgarh Project."[1]
An Executive Summary for the project states that the proposed location is at Sapos Village, Dabhra Tehsil, Janjgir-Champa District in Chhattisgarh.[2]
BEC Power has proposed to establish a 500 megawatt (MW) coal-fired power station in Sapos Village, Dabhra Tehsil, Janjgir-Champa District, Chhattisgarh. The company proposes that the plant comprise two 250MW units.[3]
In a summary of its Environmental Impact Assessment BEC Power states that the project would require 2.96 million tonnes of coal a year for the 500MW plant. The company stated in late 2010 that it was seeking a coal linkage from the Ministry of Coal for allocation from either South Eastern Coalfields Limited's mine in the Korba area or Mahanadi Coalfields Limited mines in Raigarh and the Ib-Valley.[3]
Since there has been no apparent progress in developing the project since 2010, it appears to be abandoned.
