Background

In June 2020, KPMG Restructuring practice appointed Joint Administrators of Calon Energy Limited.[5]

In August 2020, Severn Power, along with Sutton Bridge power station, was put into a "dormant state” by administrators in order to "allow more time to recover costs for creditors" as they were not currently generating sufficient returns to remain operational.[6] In March 2021, the plant remained in its dormant state.[7] Calon Energy directors regained control of the plant in May of 2021.[8][9] However, the firm has still not received permission from the government to restart the plant.[10]
