Background

Shanxi Liulin power station originally consisted of four units totaling 1400 MW. The first two units of 100 MW each were put into operation in 1995 and 1996, respectively, at a total investment of 1.1 billion yuan. The units were funded through loans from the Asian Development Bank (ADB).[1][2]

In 2008 two more units of 600 MW each began operation.[3]

New units were also built at the related Liulin Liansheng power station.
