In August 2025, the Expert Appraisal Committee (EAC) deferred the expansion project for various reasons, including unclear land demarcation, hydrological concerns, greenbelt and plantation gaps, etc. A sub-committee plans to conduct a site visit to examine the concerns and fund appraisal will follow based on their findings.[ 4]
