Background

Shyam Metalics and power Limited was incorporated in 1991.[1] The Sambalpur Steel plant began commercial production in 2013.[1] The Plant had a capacity of 538 ttpa sponge iron and 491 ttpa billet as of 31 December 2020, and is expanding capacity by 947 ttpa sponge iron, and 653 ttpa billet production by 2025.[2][3][4]

According to the company's 2023 document, the plant plans to add an additional DRI capacity of 462 ttpa.[5] In November 2024, the plant commissioned a new 550 cubic meters blast furnace and a sinter plant.[6]
