Shyam Steel Raghunathpur steel plant, also known as JSK-II, Shyam Steel Purulia, is a steel plant in Raghunathpur, Purulia, West Bengal, India that operates blast furnace (BF), induction furnace (IF), basic oxygen furnace (BOF), electric arc furnace (EAF), and direct reduced iron (DRI) technology.

Background
Shyam Steel Limited proposed to constructed an integrated steel plant in Raghunathpur, Purulia, West Bengal at an investment of around INR 3,445 crore.[1] An Integrated steel plant with a capacity of 1.1 mtpa was proposed at the site which obtained environmental clearance in 2010.[2] The project was abandoned in 2013[3], however, it was later modified with a new proposal in 2021.[4] The project was modified further in 2022.[5] The project is expected to be developed in three phases. Phase-I involves setting up of two DRI units of total capacity 420 ttpa and six induction furnaces of 420 ttpa total capacity. Phase-II involves the installation of four more DRI units of capacity 840 ttpa and six more induction furnaces of capacity 420 ttpa. Phase-III involves addition of an electric arc furnace of capacity 175 ttpa, a 750 m3 blast furnace, a basic oxygen furnace of 525 ttpa and other auxiliary facilities.[6] Phase- I began operation in February 2024.[7]
As of October 2025, there hasn't been any updates on the development of the plant.
