Background

The plant in Thessaloniki began operation in 1962. In may, 2015, Sidenor Holdings S.S. was acquired by Viohalco S.A.^[1] According to SEPAN, Sidenor is the largest recycler of scrap in Greece.^[2] In 2020, Sidenor suspended operations at all of their steel plants for the entire month of April due to coronavirus.^[3]
