Background

The Sishui-Yishui Gas Pipeline first appeared in the "Shandong Oil and Gas Development of 14th Five-Year Plan" in January 2022. The project's budget is 5 billion RMB. When finished, the project will bring a total capacity of 5-7 bcm/year to the region.

The construction is divided into 3 phases. The starting point of phase one will be sourced from the Laiwu station of Zilai Gas Pipeline and ends in Yiyuan County, Zibo City, Shandong. The second phase contains two lines, the first line is sourced from the Sishui Station of China–Russia East Pipeline, and the second line is sourced from the East Trunk of Shandong Gas Pipeline Network. Both lines of the second phase connect to the phase 1 segment at the ending points. The third phase starts from Yiyuan county and separates into two branches at Badou Town, Buoshan District, Zibo City, Shandong. One branch goes to Huaneng Baiyanghe power station, and another goes to Huadian Huadian Zibo Gas power station. In October 2022, phase 1 of this project, the Laiwu-Yuyuan Segment(莱芜—沂源天然气干线), has officially been approved by the Shandong government and is at the preliminary stage of constructing design.
