Steel Dynamics Sinton plant is a 2722 thousand tonnes per annum (TTPA) electric arc furnace (EAF) steel plant operating in Sinton, Texas, United States.
Location
The map below shows the location of the steel plant in Sinton, Texas, United States.
Background
Steel Dynamics Sinton was proposed in 2019 and had a cost of $1.9 billion.[2] According to Steel Dynamics' statements, the plant was constructed to expand their flat roll steel production and reach in the southwest United States and Mexico.[3] Steel Dynamics Sinton is expected to create 600 new jobs.[3] Construction for the plant began in 2020, with roughly 1,500 workers on the site each day.[4][5] Once completed, part of the steel products made at the Sinton facility will go to building Tesla's cybertrucks.[6]
As of October 2021, it is still under construction. The plant is expected to begin operations by the end of 2021.[2][7]
