In 2022, Swiss Steel Group committed to using 100% swiss hydropower to produce steel at the Emmenbrucke plant.[2]

The company has struggled with rising electricity prices in recent years, and in 2025 had to layoff 50 employees from the Emmenbrucke plant.[3]
