Background

TalTEK Section Coal Mine (Разрез ТалТЭК) is a surface mine in Kiselyovsk, Kemerevo, Russia.[2]

TalTEK Section coal mine is operated by Razrez Taltek LLC, which in turn is owned by Taltek JSC.

Previously the site operated exclusively as a loading complex, it was developed as a producing coal mine in 2018.[2] In 2020, it produced 2.164 million tonnes.[3] In the first half f 2022, the mine produced 2.132 million tonnes.[4] Taltek's website accessed on October 2023 referred to the mine's capacity of 6 Mtpa, while previously (in 2021) it was listed at 4 Mtpa.[2] Based on this it appeared that the mine has undergone expansion.

In December 2021 the Federal Service for Technological Supervision (Rostechnadzor) ordered the coal mine to stop operations for 90 days due to non-compliance with the design parameters, which lead to the formation of a dangerous operating zone.[5] It was not clear whether the coal mine took any measures.
