Tosyali Algerie Oran steel plant (شركة توسيالي الجزائرية التركية للحديد والصلب, Tosyali Algérie) is a steel plant in Bethiqua, Oran, Algeria that operates direct reduced iron (DRI) and electric arc furnace (EAF) technology.

Background

The Tosyali Algerie Oran steel plant was commissioned in 2013 and has since experienced rapid growth.[1] The plant's first MIDREX Direct Reduced Iron (DRI) unit began operating in 2018, and set a world record for the highest production from a single unit in 2020, then broke that record again with 2.28 million tons of production in 2021 .[2] In July 2021, the company announced it would be expanding capacity with an electric arc furnace facility with 2.7 million tons in annual capacity, and another green hydrogen capable DRI plant with 2.5 million tons in capacity. The expansion commenced operations in 2024.[3][4]
