Vedanta Sesa Goa Pig Iron Plant, also known as Sesa Goa plant (formerly), is a steel plant in Amona, North Goa, Goa, India that operates blast furnace (BF) technology.

Background
Vedanta Sesa Goa Pig Iron Division is the largest merchant producer of Pig Iron in India with production capacity of 80,000 tons per month. the pig iron division (PID) started operating in 1992. It was the first to introduce low phosphorous foundry-grade pig iron in India. The PID has three blast furnaces, making SESA’s PID the largest producer of low phosphorous pig iron in India with an installed capacity of 950 thousand tonnes per annum (ttpa). The company also commissioned an 800 ttpa sintering facility that would enable the PID to partially meet its iron ore requirement with sintered iron ore fines, resulting in significant cost savings and increasing efficiencies.[1]
Owing to the frequent disruption of transportation of iron ore by truck owners, Vedanta has threatened that it will be forced to close down its pig iron plant at Amona, which will affect the livelihood of about 4000 employees.[2]
The plant has also proposed a capacity expansion from 1 mtpa to 1.2 mtpa by increasing production capacity of blast furnace #3 to 0.85 mtpa from 0.65 mtpa through debottlenecking.[3]
