Background
The Wilkie Creek open-cut coal mine in Queensland was acquired by Peabody Energy in the early 2000s and was permanently closed in 2013 amid weak market conditions, after which rehabilitation activities commenced.[7]
Following a brief restart attempt under New Wilkie Energy, operations were again suspended after the company entered voluntary administration in late 2023 and receivers were appointed in early 2024.[8]
In December 2025, the mine was re-established as Dalmore Resources under new ownership and financing, with refurbishment of site infrastructure underway and operations expected to recommence in 2026.[9]
