Background
Zagustaisky Coal Mine (Загустайский разрез) is a SURFACE mine in Buryatia, Russia.
Zagustaisky coal mine used to be owned by Buryatugol which went bankrupt in 2017. The coal mine was acquired by Vostochno-Sibirskaya Gornaya Company (Eastern Siberian Mining Company) in 2018.[3][4] It appears that the company is owned by private individuals.[5]
2017 production was about 0.4 million tonnes and coal was supplied to Gusinoozyorskaya power station.[6]
In 2021, the mine was operating as it was mentioned as one of the four producers in Buryatia in 2021.[7]
A media report from March 2023 referred to joint production of Zagustaisky coal mine and Daban Gorhon mine under the same ownership a 0.292 million tonnes in 2022, significantly lower than in the previous years.[8]
