Background

The Zheronsky-Vereinsky Coal Mine (Жеронский разрез) is an operating surface coal mine in Irkutsk Oblast, Russia. The Zheronsky-Vereinsky coal mine is a surface coal mine. It is owned by Vostsibugol LLC.[6]

It is technically the Vereinsky mine operating on the Zheronsky coalfield, but it is referred to interchangeably by both names.

Information on the mine's production is limited. It has a capacity of 1.5 million tonnes per year, according to an old version of Vostsibugol website.[7]

In 2022 the Zheronsky-Vereinsky coal mine reached a 15 million tonne production threshold over 20 years.[8] Annual production averages about 0.7 million tonnes.[8] The main consumer is Ust-Ilimskaya CHP power station.[8]
