Background

The Argent Colliery was a proposed opencast coal mine in Mpumalanga, South Africa.

In 2019, it was reported that the mine was still awaiting approval for several mine use licenses in order to commence production. As there have been no known public updates since then, the coal mine is presumed cancelled. Plans for the Argent Colliery were proposed by the South African coal-focused company, The Puckree Group, around 2014.
