Background
The project was announced in September 2019 as part of a development that will include the gas-fired 3,200-MW Bac Lieu Project power station and Bac Lieu LNG Terminal.[5]
The Bac Lieu LNG power project was listed in an Appendix of an amendment to Vietnam's eighth Power Development Plan (PDP8), released in April 2025, indicating the project is still actively in development, with a range of possible start years between 2025 and 2030.[6]
