Background

Chita LNG Terminal is an LNG terminal in Chūbu, Japan.

Chita LNG Terminal received its first import of LNG in September 1983. In 2014 the terminal received its 3,500th tanker since it began operation. Chubu Electric Power and Toho Gas import LNG from Qatar and Indonesia for power generation and residential gas. As of 2014 the terminal was receiving 8.4 million tons of LNG per year. Per more recent information such as the 2025 GIIGNL report, the capacity of the terminal is 10.9 mtpa.

This terminal is now part of the broader Chita LNG Terminal complex that also includes Chita Kyodo LNG Terminal and Chita Midorihama LNG Terminal.
