Dekhelia Port Coal Terminal is located in Dekheila Port is in Alexandria, Egypt. It is owned and operated by The Alexandria Port Authority.[1]

Location

The port occupies the former site of the air port of the Dekheila Air Base, west of Alexandria port, about 7 km by sea and about 10 km by land.[1]

Background

Dekheila Port Coal Terminal, about 10 km west of Alexandria Port and administered by the same authority, was developed during the 1980s as an extension to Alexandria and to serve the adjacent iron and steel works. Its main breakwater was completed in December 1985 and the port was inaugurated in 1986, with a raw materials wharf following in 1987 and general cargo berths and an iron ore yard in 1990. It occupies 2.74 km² of water and 3.20 km² of land, is approached by a channel dredged to 20–24 m, and accommodates vessels of up to 18 m draft.[1]

In December of 2025, the port received 55,000t of petcoke from Spain for Assiut Cement.[2]
