GASOG Gas Pipeline
Part of the Global Gas Infrastructure Tracker, a Global Energy Monitor project. |
The GASOG Gas Pipeline, also known in English as the Goytacazes Gas Pipeline or the Porto do Açu-GASCAV Gas Pipeline, and in Portuguese as the Gasoduto GASOG, Gasoduto dos Goytacazes, or Gasoduto Porto do Açu-GASCAV, is a proposed gas pipeline in Brazil.
Location
The pipeline is proposed to run from the Porto do Açu LNG import terminal at São João da Barra (Rio de Janeiro state) to a junction with TAG's Gasene Gas Pipeline (part of the TAG pipeline network) in Campos dos Goytacazes (Rio de Janeiro state).

Background
In November 2017, GNA (Gás Natural Açu) published an environmental impact report for the GASOG Gas Pipeline, a new 45-kilometer pipeline designed to feed regasified fossil gas from GNA's proposed Porto do Açu LNG import terminal into the Cabiúnas-Vitória Gas Pipeline (a component of the Gasene Gas Pipeline) in Campos dos Goytacazes (Rio de Janeiro state).[8]
In December 2022, gas pipeline operator TAG (Transportadora Associada de Gás) announced that it had signed an MOU with GNA to jointly study the feasibility of the GASOG gas pipeline.
Brazilian government reports published in October 2019[7], December 2022[11], August 2024[10], and February 2025[12] confirmed plans for the pipeline, with the latter document listing GASOG as an active project in the licensing phase.
The pipeline has been described as between 45 km[1][6][9][10] and 45.5 km[7][8][11][12] in length, with its estimated capacity ranging from 10[1][6][7] and 20[8] MMm3 per day. Brazil's February 2025 gas pipeline report specifically indicates that the pipeline would be designed to transport up to 10 MMm3 per day in the east-to-west direction (from Porto do Açu to Campos dos Goytacazes) and 12 to 18 MMm3 per day in the opposite direction (from west to east).[12]
