Background

The mine is operated by Gibson County Coal, a subsidiary of Alliance Resource Partners, L.P. (ARLP). The mine began production in November 2000. The preparation plant has a throughput capacity of 700 tons of raw coal an hour.

ARLP refers to the reserves mined at this location as "Gibson North." ARLP also controls Gibson South Mine, with estimates of 60.4 million tons reserve estimates.
