History

According to the Guangxi Coal Mining Safety Supervision Bureau there were altogether 123 coal mines in Guangxi in 2011.[1] Guangdong province’s ports in southwestern China to boast the country's largest throughput of coal imports in 2011. The customs authority in Nanning said that the ports recorded a total throughput of over 27 million tonnes of coal in 2011. This accounted for 15 percent of China’s total coal despite Guangxi not being a large production region. The region is about 220,400 square km (85,100 square miles.) It has a population of 46,026,629 as of 2010 census.[2]
