Background

Gwangyang Port Coal Terminal is a part of the Gwangyang Port, where three more coal terminals operate. The port handled 23.7 million tonnes of bituminous coal in 2025.[1][2]

Pier 9, berth 185 (coal dock) and 420 (Nakpo Coal Terminal/ Wharf) handle bituminous coal, with 15,000 and 80,000 DWT capacity respectively. Pier 13 has Yeosu Thermal Power Plant Coal Wharf/ Terminal with a 10,000 DWT capacity.[3]

The port handled 23.7 million tonnes of bituminous coal in 2025.[4][5]
