HBIS Group Co., Ltd is a state-owned Chinese iron and steel manufacturing conglomerate, also known as Hesteel Group or its pinyin shortname Hegang. The company has also been known as Hebei Iron and Steel Group Co., Ltd. HBIS Group was founded in 2008 and is headquartered in Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province, China.

Hesteel Group is the third-largest steel producer in the world measured by crude steel output in 2020, according to the World Steel Association.[1]

History

Hebei Iron and Steel Group Co., Ltd. was established on 30 June 2008 by the merger of Tangshan Iron and Steel Group Co., Ltd. and Handan Iron and Steel Group of Hebei Province.[2]

The company had an indirectly listed subsidiary, HBIS Company Limited, which was known as Hebei Iron and Steel Company until June 2016.[3]

Climate Commitments

  • In March 2021, HBIS Announced its Low Carbon & Green Development Action Plan.By the low carbon road path, HBIS carbon emission will peak in 2022 and by 2025, it will cut more than 10% of carbon emission. 2030, 30% of carbon will be reduced. 2050, carbon neutralization.[4]
