Background

JSW acquired the Dolvi Works integrated steel plant in 2010, when the plant had a capacity of 3.3 mtpa.[2][3][4] The plant was the first one to adopt a combination of Conarc technology for steel making and compact strip production (CSP) for the manufacture of thin-gauge hot rolled coils.[2] Ore and coal for the steel plant are primarily shipped via the JSW Dharamtar Port.[5] The plant capacity was expanded from 3.3 to 5 mtpa in 2016-17.[3] JSW steel further expanded its capacity to 10 mtpa from 5 mtpa by addition of BF-BOF facilities at the plant by October 2021 and commenced commercial production in November 2021.[5][6] The expansion involved installation of a 4.5 mtpa blast furnace, a 5 mtpa steel melting shop, a 5 mtpa hot strip mill, and a 4 mtpa pellet plant.[7]
