Jiangsu Shagang Iron & Steel Co Ltd (张家港荣盛特钢有限公司, 江苏沙钢钢铁有限公司, 张家港宏昌钢板有限公司, 江苏沙钢集团), also known as Jiangsu Shagang Group, is a steel plant in Jinfeng, Zhangjiagang, Jiangsu, China that operates blast furnace (BF), basic oxygen furnace (BOF), and electric arc furnace (EAF) technology.

Background
According to the announcement of the capacity replacement plan in December 2019, the company planned to build a 120-tonne basic oxygen furnace and a 130-tonne electric arc furnace, dismantle three 50-tonne basic oxygen furnaces and a 90-ton electric arc furnace. It is expected to be put into operation in June 2022.[1] In August 2021, the environmental impact assessment report of 120-tonne BOF was approved.[2]
According to another announcement of the capacity replacement plan in December 2019, the company planned to build a 2350m3 blast furnace to replace 2x480m3 and 2x580m3 blast furnaces in August 2021 and build a 2350m3 blast furnace to replace 2x480m3 and 2x580m3 blast furnaces in March 2023.[3] The first 2350m3 was put into operation on March 29, 2022.[4]
Zhangjiagang Hongchang Steel Co., Ltd. is currently recognized as the largest steel plant in the world with nearly 30 mtpa capacity.[5] POSCO Gwangyang steel plant was previously recognized as the largest steel plant in the world at 23 mtpa.[6]
