The Kalinga International Coal Terminal is an operating coal import terminal at Paradip Port in Paradip, Odisha, India. It is also known as the New Coal Import Berth and is operated by Kalinga International Coal Terminal Paradip Private Limited (KICTPPL).
Location
The terminal is situated at the confluence of the Mahanadi river and the Bay of Bengal.
Background
The terminal was developed under a build-operate-transfer concession to handle imported coal. It has an annual capacity of 10 million tonnes and can receive coal vessels requiring drafts of approximately 16 to 16.5 metres.[1][2]
Paradip Port Authority records the terminal as having been commissioned on October 18, 2021. The facility consists of a 370-metre mechanized coal-import berth and handles imported coal.[3]
KICTPPL is a joint venture involving Ripley & Company (Stevedoring & Handling), Bothra Shipping Services, and Kakinada Seaports.[2]
