Kamarajar Port Ennore Coal Terminal

Ennore Coal Terminal is an operating coal and dry-bulk import terminal at Kamarajar Port in Tamil Nadu, India. The terminal is operated by Ennore Coal Terminal Private Limited (ECTPL), a subsidiary of JSW Infrastructure. It was formerly known as the Chettinad International Coal Terminal.

Background

The terminal was developed on a build–operate–transfer basis and began commercial operations on March 11, 2011. It was originally operated by the Chettinad Group.[1]

JSW Infrastructure acquired control of the terminal on November 13, 2020 through its acquisition of Southern Bulk Terminals Private Limited and its subsidiaries. Chettinad International Coal Terminal Private Limited was subsequently renamed Ennore Coal Terminal Private Limited.[2]

The terminal handles imported coal, coke and limestone. Kamarajar Port reports a current annual capacity for the terminal of 11 million tonnes. It has a 347.5-metre berth with a declared depth of 18 metres and is capable of receiving Capesize vessels.[1][3] JSW describes it as a fully mechanized terminal with conveyor transport between the berth and stockyard.[4]
