Machilipatnam Port Coal Berth is a planned coal berth at the greenfield Machilipatnam Port in Krishna district, Andhra Pradesh, India.[1]
Location
The berth is part of the Machilipatnam Port development in Krishna district.
Background
The Government of Andhra Pradesh describes the port's first phase as four berths: three general-cargo berths and one coal berth. Its approximately 35-million-tonne annual capacity is for the whole first-phase port; a separate capacity for the coal berth alone has not been reported. Port construction commenced in April 2023, and the state reported berth construction in progress as of November 2024.[2]
The Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways still listed Machilipatnam among ports under construction in February 2026. Phase I construction is planned for completion in December 2026 and commissioning by June 2027.[3]
