Jiaxing Port is a natural estuary deep-water international seaport on the coast of Jiaxing, Zhejiang, People's Republic of China. It handles coal.
It is also the site of the proposed Jiaxing Dushan Coal Terminal.
Location
The port of Jiaxing is located on the mouth of the Qiantang River, at the start of Hangzhou Bay.
Background
In 2010, the Jiaxing port shipped a total of 27.3 million tonnes coal to the province’s power plants and textile mills.[1] In 2017, the Jiaxing port added 16.08 billion RMB ($2.38 billion) in GDP.[2]
In the first quarter of 2021, the Jiaxing port had a throughput of around 2 million tonnes of coal.[3] If this is extrapolated to the rest of the year, we can say that the Jiaxing port has a capacity of around 8 million tonnes of coal per year.
