Background
Siddik Kardesler steel plant was established in 1981 as a rolling mill. The steel making facilities began in 2017.[1]
Türkiye's steel industry has been facing setbacks due to energy costs and declined demand. As a result, Siddik Kardesler Haddecilik filed for bankruptcy protection in July 2025. This protection provides them a three month temporary protection period to reorganize and stabilize their operations. Siddik has a debt of TRY 3.6 billion (USD 90 million).[2]
