Background
As of 2019, the Vila do Conde power station had received its preliminary environmental license and was mentioned by multiple sources in conjunction with development of the associated Hidrovias do Brasil LNG Terminal.[7][8]
As of November 2022, the Vila do Conde power station appears to be shelved. The competing Barcarena-based Novo Tempo Barcarena power station emerged victorious in Brazil's 2019 energy auctions, leaving the Hidrovias do Brasil project in limbo.[9] As of late 2021, the Hidrovias do Brasil project was no longer mentioned in official government reports[10] and limited recent press coverage does not report any concrete steps to move the project forward.[11]
