The Vizag Seaport Terminal is an operating multipurpose bulk terminal at Visakhapatnam Port in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, India. It is operated by Vizag Seaport Private Limited (VSPL) and consists of East Quay berths EQ8 and EQ9.
Location
Vizag Seaport Terminal is located at Visakhapatnam Port, in the northern arm of the inner harbour. The port is situated on the east coast of India in the state of Andhra Pradesh, along the Bay of Bengal.
Background
Vizag Seaport Terminal handles coking coal, steam coal, coke, iron ore, gypsum, manganese ore and other bulk commodities. It serves both import and export traffic.[1] EQ8 has principally been used to unload imported cargo, including coking coal, while EQ9 has been used to load exports, including thermal coal.[2]
EQ8 and EQ9 were commissioned in 2005 and are operated under a 30-year build-operate-transfer agreement with the Visakhapatnam Port Authority.[3] The combined terminal has an annual cargo capacity of approximately 9 million tonnes.[4]
