Background
Zarechnaya Coal Mine (Шахта Заречная) is an UNDERGROUND mine in Polysaevo, Kemerovo Oblast, Russia.
Zarechnaya coal mine used to be owned by Shakhta Zarechnaya JSC, but the mine's assets were acquired in 2021 by the Coal Company Sila Sibiri for RUB 1.7bn, after several sale attempts.[2]
Shakhta Zarechnaya JSC was announced bankrupt in November 2017.[2] It was part of Zarechnaya Coal Company that was also went bankrupt in 2017. The sale to Sila Sibiri included the mine as well as Oktyabrskaya coal mine, a washing plant and loading-transportation infrastructure.[2] The capacity of the mine was estimated at 3-5 million tonnes per annum.[2]
An industry report stated that in 1H 2022, the mine produced 0.6 million tonnes.[3] Total production of Sila Sibiri (from Zarechnaya and Oktyabrskaya section) was reported at 2.5 Mt in 2022.[4][5]
In April 2023, it was reported that coal mining work is being carried out with one longwall within the Oktyabrsky mine site; at Zarechnaya, preparatory work is underway to reach a new seam.[4][5]
