Note the map above shows only the pipelines listed below, though the Anhui Province pipeline map included as a thumbnail shows a fuller picture of all currently operating, proposed, and in-development pipelines in the region.

Background

In May 2017, Anhui Province released the Anhui Oil & Gas Pipeline Network Infrastructure Development Plan (2017–2021) 安徽省油气管网基础设施建设规划 (2017—2021年).

This document sketches out a gas pipeline network consisting of three major "backbone" pipelines running north to south, four additional "connection" pipelines running east to west, and a loop. From 2017 to 2021, Anhui Province expects to complete 1630 kilometers of gas pipeline in this network, with a total investment of 7 billion RMB (roughly US$1.1 billion), divided into segments completed year-by-year.[1][2] The plan also documented a need to upgrade the Fuyang–Suzhou Gas Transmission Line.

In February 2021, The People's Congress of Anhui Province approved the 14th National Economic and Social Development Five-Year Plan (14th Five-Year Plan) and the 2035 Vision Outline of Anhui Province (安徽省国民经济和社会发展第十四个 五年规划和 2035 年远景目标纲要). In the natural gas infrastructure section, continuing and new construction proposals for the provincial gas pipeline network include Bengbu–Hefei, Chaohu–Jiangbei District, Yingshang–Jin'an, Lujiang–Guichi, and Suzhou–Bengbu gas pipelines. The plan also detailed continuing construction of trans-province gas pipeline projects, including the Binhai LNG Transport Pipeline as well as the Huzhou–Xuancheng and Yangzhou–Chuzhou pipelines.[3]

Sinopec (China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation) is planning a trans-province pipeline network, the Shandong–Jiangsu–Henan–Anhui Four Provinces Pipeline Network (鲁苏豫皖四省管网), to further the reach of natural gas through the Sichuan–Shanghai Gas Pipeline and the Jiangsu LNG Terminal and Yancheng LNG Terminal.

Network details

This network is split into three main vertical lines (or backbones) running north–south in the eastern, middle, and western part of Anhui Province. Four additional major segments connecting these lines are also part of the network.
