Mangalore Adani Coal Terminal is a captive coal handling terminal linked to the New Mangalore Port, operated by Adani Power for its Udupi power station in Karnataka, India.
Location
The terminal is in Panambur, Mangalore, and sits roughly halfway between the ports of Mormugao (170 nautical miles to the north) and Kochi (191 nautical miles to the south).[1]
Background
The Mangalore Adani Coal Terminal is located at Berth 15 of the New Mangalore Port, and is a captive mechanized coal import terminal serving the Udupi power station. The berth was developed by Udupi Power Corporation Limited under a concession from the New Mangalore Port Authority and was commissioned in November 2012.[2] Imported coal received at the terminal is transported by rail to the Udupi power station.
Adani Power acquired Udupi Power Corporation from the Lanco Group in April 2015. In August 2024, the New Mangalore Port Authority approved an addendum changing the name of the concessionaire from Udupi Power Corporation Limited to Adani Power Limited.[3]
As of March 2025, Berth 15 had a rated capacity of 13.8 million tonnes per annum and a usable capacity of 9.7 million tonnes per annum.[4]
