National Low Emissions Coal Council

From Global Energy Monitor

The National Low Emissions Coal Council was announced by the Australian Minister for Resources and Energy, Martin Ferguson in June 2008. Ferguson announced that the Council, which is chaired by Dick Wells, the former head of the Minerals Council of Australia, would "develop a national strategy aimed at accelerating the development of low emission coal technologies."[1]

In November 2010 the National Low Emissions Coal Council -- along with the Carbon Storage Taskforce -- was replaced by the National Carbon Capture and Storage Council.[2]
