Background

The Vinogradovsky coal mine (Виноградовский разрез) is a surface coal mine in Kemerovo, Russia. The Vinogradovsky coal mine is owned by Kuzbass Fuel Company (Kuzbasskaya Toplivnaya Company JSC, or KTK).[7] In December 2022, Omega LLC acquired 99.66% in KTK from Millfast Trading Limited, Kilton Overseas Limited and Daenia Holdings Limited, the transaction was approved by the Russian President, Vladimir Putin.[8] This is part of Russia's response to nationalise energy companies previously held in foreign jurisdictions.[9]

Information disclosure has reduced since KTK was delisted from the Moscow Stock Exchange in 2021.[10] About 75% of KTK production is exported.[11]Vinogradovsky Razrez includes 4 sections - the Vinogradovsky coal mine, Bryansky coal mine, Cheremshansky coal mine and Listvyanichny coal mine.[12]

A fatality was reported at the mine in 2020 when a rock section collapsed and buried a loading truck with one driver inside.[13]

New transportation equipment was delivered to the mine in April 2023.[14]
