Navlakhi United Shippers Coal Terminal is an operating coal and bulk-cargo terminal at Navlakhi Port in Morbi district, Gujarat, India. The terminal is owned and operated by United Shippers Limited.
It is one of four separately operated coal-handling jetties within the Navlakhi Group of Ports. The other facilities are the Navlakhi GMB Coal Terminal, Navlakhi Shreeji Shipping Coal Terminal and Navlakhi Jaydeep Associates Coal Terminal.[1]
Location
The port is situated in Hansthal Creek at the southwestern end of the Gulf of Kutch.
Background
United Shippers Limited operates a privately owned jetty within the Navlakhi port area. Environmental-clearance documents describe the original United Shippers jetty as approximately 102 metres long and 12 metres wide.[2]
The facility handles coal and other break-bulk commodities. Cargo is unloaded from barges and transported to shore for storage and onward distribution by truck or railway. The Gujarat Maritime Cluster reports an annual capacity of 3.3 million tonnes for the United Shippers jetty.[1] This represents total jetty capacity; a separate coal-only capacity has not been published.
